Changing Domain WhoIS Information Print

  • 1

WhoIS information tells the governing entity of domain registration (ICANN) as well as the general public who owns and manages each domain that exists.  It is 100% your responsibility to keep your domain contact information up to date and not doing so can cause issues for you.

There are 3 different types of contacts associated with each domain, which are often all the same, though not necessarily.  Those 3 types are Registrant (owner of the domain), Administrator (manager of the domain), and Technician (manager of how the domain works).  Assigning someone as the technician on a domain DOES NOT give them access to the domain or the authority to talk with OnTheCloud.co about your account in any fashion.  For instructions on how to do that, please click here.

To change this information, please do the following...

  1. Go to OnTheCloud.co and login.
  2. Click on "Domains" > "My Domains"
  3. Find the domain you want to transfer and click the arrow next to "Manage" and select "Edit Contact Information"
  4. Change the information as needed and click "Save"

After you click "Save" the information will be updated in our system at OnTheCloud.co immediately.  However, the updating of this information around the world can take up to 24 hours and sometimes even a little longer.  Unfortunately this is not something within our control here at OnTheCloud.co

NOTE: Due to ICANN restrictions, your domain will be locked at OnTheCloud.co for 60 days if you change any of the contact information on your domains.  This is non-negotiable and is not a restriction that OnTheCloud.co has any control over.  Be aware of this prior to changing account settings and contact information anywhere in your account.
